FAQ — Squeaky Broom

Question 1

How much does a regular clean cost?

Accepted Answer

Regular cleaning starts from £18 per hour. The total cost depends on the size of your home and how often we visit. We'll give you a fixed price before we start — no surprises on the day.

Question 2

Are there any hidden fees?

Accepted Answer

None whatsoever. The price we quote is the price you pay. We'll always confirm the full cost upfront, and we'll never add charges without telling you first.

Question 3

Do you charge more for a first clean?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes a first visit takes a little longer if the home needs extra attention to get it up to our standard. If that's the case, we'll let you know in advance. After the first clean, your regular rate applies.

Question 4

Do you supply cleaning products and equipment?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we bring everything we need, including professional-grade products and equipment. If you'd prefer us to use your own products (for example, if you have allergies or prefer eco-friendly brands), just let us know.

Question 5

How do I pay?

Accepted Answer

We accept bank transfer, debit card, and credit card. Payment is due on the day of the clean. For regular customers, we can set up a standing order for convenience.

Question 6

How do I book a clean?

Accepted Answer

The easiest way is to fill in our contact form or give us a call. We'll ask a few questions about your home, confirm availability, and give you a fixed price — usually within a few hours.

Question 7

How much notice do you need?

Accepted Answer

We ask for at least 48 hours' notice for new bookings where possible, though we do sometimes have last-minute availability. For regular slots, we'll agree a recurring day and time that suits you.

Question 8

Can I book a one-off clean, or do I have to commit to a regular schedule?

Accepted Answer

Both are absolutely fine. We offer one-off cleans (deep cleans, end-of-tenancy, etc.) as well as regular weekly or fortnightly visits. There's no obligation to commit to anything ongoing.

Question 9

Will I have the same cleaner every time?

Accepted Answer

Yes — that's one of the things we're most proud of. We match you with a cleaner who suits your home and schedule, and they'll be your regular cleaner for every visit. They'll get to know your home and exactly how you like things done.

Question 10

Do I need to be home during the clean?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. Many of our customers give us a key or a door code so we can let ourselves in. All our cleaners are fully vetted and insured, so you can leave with complete confidence.

Question 11

What's your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a visit. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a small fee to cover the cleaner's time. We understand that life happens — just let us know as soon as you can.

Question 12

Can I change the day or time of my regular clean?

Accepted Answer

Yes, just get in touch and we'll do our best to accommodate you. We ask for as much notice as possible so we can rearrange your cleaner's schedule.

Question 13

What if I need to pause my regular clean for a few weeks?

Accepted Answer

No problem at all. Just let us know and we'll put your visits on hold. There's no penalty for pausing — we'll simply pick up where we left off when you're ready.

Question 14

What happens if my cleaner is ill or unavailable?

Accepted Answer

We'll always let you know as soon as possible and offer you the choice of rescheduling or having a cover cleaner visit instead. We never just cancel without giving you an alternative.

Question 15

Where do you operate?

Accepted Answer

We cover South London and Surrey, including Wimbledon, Richmond, Kingston upon Thames, Putney, Wandsworth, Clapham, Balham, Tooting, Streatham, Sutton, Epsom, and Guildford. If you're not sure whether we cover your area, just ask.

Question 16

Do you charge a travel fee?

Accepted Answer

No — travel is included in our standard rates for all areas we cover. There are no additional charges for coming to you.

Question 17

Are you expanding to new areas?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we're always growing. If you're just outside our current coverage area, get in touch anyway — we may be able to help, or we can add you to our waiting list for when we expand.

Question 18

Are your cleaners vetted and background-checked?

Accepted Answer

Yes, every member of our team goes through a thorough vetting process including an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, reference checks, and an in-person interview before they join us.

Question 19

Are your cleaners insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes — all our cleaners are fully insured for public liability and accidental damage. In the unlikely event that something is damaged during a visit, we'll sort it out promptly and fairly.

Question 20

Are your cleaners employed by Squeaky Broom, or are they self-employed?

Accepted Answer

Our cleaners are employed directly by Squeaky Broom. That means they're properly paid, trained to our standards, and covered by our insurance — not left to fend for themselves as contractors.

Question 21

What training do your cleaners receive?

Accepted Answer

All new cleaners go through our in-house training programme before their first solo visit. This covers our cleaning standards, safe use of products and equipment, and how to handle customer homes with care and respect.

Question 22

What's your satisfaction guarantee?

Accepted Answer

If you're not happy with any part of your clean, let us know within 24 hours and we'll come back to put it right — free of charge. No arguments, no fuss. Your satisfaction is our priority.

Question 23

What if something is damaged during a clean?

Accepted Answer

Please let us know as soon as possible. All our cleaners are insured, and we'll handle any accidental damage claims quickly and fairly. We take great care in your home, but if something does go wrong, we'll make it right.

Question 24

Do you offer a guarantee on end-of-tenancy cleans?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If your landlord or letting agent raises any issues with the standard of the clean, we'll return to address them at no extra cost. We can also provide a certificate of cleaning if required.

Question 25

How do I give feedback after a visit?

Accepted Answer

We'll follow up after every clean to make sure you're happy. You can also contact us any time by phone or email. We genuinely value feedback — it's how we keep improving.
